The Antonella Factor
Photos showing Antonella Barba performing fellatio on an unidentified male would seem to suggest Antonella Barba's time on American Idol is up... Whether the pics are really her or not. There are arguments and supposed photo "proofs" on both sides, claiming the beauty marks prove it is her, while others claim the shape of the ear proves it's not her.
The question is, how will the Idol producers handle it? Do they care? Will they take the time to truly investigate the matter? Will pressure from the notoriously conservative Fox network put the kibosh on the whole thing, real or not?
Will they be honest and respect the audience by removing her and replacing her with an alternate? Or will they be scuzzy about it, and claim she just didn't get the votes this week? I'm hoping for the former, but I don't really trust the Idol producers enough to believe that's the route they'll take.
Here's the thing, Barba is almost a sure thing to remain votefortheworst.com's female pick, not only because of her less than voice, but because of the scandal, so the likelihood of her not getting enough votes is very slim.
Not many who take the show seriously will be casting their votes for Barba, and scandal or not, she is one of the disposable females, but I for one want Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe to be up front about it.

Well, I guess if all the other contestants are completely scandal free and their lives squeaky clean then the argument to can Antonella based on the scandal would hold water. I doubt that's the case. You know what I'm talking about... "let he who is without sin cast the first stone." It's supposed to be a singing competition, not a "whose life is most like Mother Theresa" award or something. The girl made it onto the show, and didn't get voted off last week, so I say leave her alone and let her sing...she didn't do very well last week, but I've seen other contestants do well one week and terrible the next. I say leave her alone and give her a chance.
That's the thing though... the mother teresa factor does matter to the producers, and moreso to the murdoch owned network. A few very talented people who made it through to hollywood had their golden tickets revoked the night before their flights.. and for lesser offenses.
i don't think the first photos that surfaced bothered them, but the live fellatio shots... that's another story altogether.
Well, the only ones I saw were on the net yesterday morning I believe, and they weren't all that bad. Maybe there are more that I don't know of. If there's some standard all the others are held to, that's one thing, but if she's just being singled out I'm wondering who's gonna be next. That's really my main point. Again, if the standard is the same for everyone that would be different.

This girl has to go! First off...."let her sing"?! "give her a chance"?! OMG!! She cannot sing! I know 4 year olds that can out sing and out class her. She should have been gone last week and is only still on because of the stupid site that votes for the worst people. She has no class. She lied on camera during Hollywood week already and forgot the words there. That alone should have got her kicked off. Maybe the pictures explain how seh got thru in the first place! She is a phony and it is quite obvious she could really care less that her friend was kisked off. Don't say it if you are full of crap. I am hoping this will put an end to her and maybe give someone a spot that can actually sing.
My goodness Roxanne! Why all the hostility to a different opinion? As for the singing, I wasn't impressed with Antonella last week...actually I thought she did pretty badly, but I wasn't impressed with most of the other contestants either. There were only a handful of stand out, awesome performances, and the rest ranged from really bad to mediocre.
As for the scandal, the way I see it, either way she's gonna pay for what's happened...she already has. As for my original post, I didn't know about the live pictures until carolyn's response to mine, and it's probably a big enough scandal under those circumstances that she should go...that is if it's proven that it really is her, since there's a question about that.
i'm not real clear on the hostility either... just asking for opinions here folks.. less on antonella than on the idol producers, actually. Perhaps I wasn't clear. Do you think the producers will respect the audience enough to handle the situation honestly, or will they manipulate the vote outcome to suit their purposes?
I think if they looked at everyone's past there would be something that none of them would want to share. I can't say I feel bad for her directly because her general attitude sucked. But that is an unfornuate thing that happened if that is really her in the pictures.It is a singing competition like anne said so we should just leave at that. I mean come on Paula's crazy ass is still on there.
Gee Whiz, 1st in my opinion I thought That when it was down to her and the other girl on judges final pics, the other girl should have got in, 2nd, She Is Way Out of her league with the girls who are in it this year, and should have been sent home ahead of the girl who sung shaka chan song,
3rd I Don't know if many here know this but she was a judges pick and regardless of veiwer votes, producers and judges have a rating system each week that is added to votes, and thats how some singers who viewers wouldn't think would stay, just because the judges and producers want them around longer, so I Guess in some way its fixed a bit, teens these days do not take pride in them selves or their morals, Im Not Saying I Was A total Girl scout however kids today do alot of things with out thinking its morally wrong or who cares about the consequenses, So Im sure she is not the only one, Do I Think she should go? Of Course She Is horible against the rest of the ladies, So People please don't vote for her and maybe she will pack her bags sooner than later, JMO!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW...that is so funny. I think that if a pic of me came up doin that I would die. Then i would be pissed if they kicked me off. I can see what some my think..but she wants nude or getting paid for the service...LOL She wont make it to the top 6 anyway, just leave her alone....

Well, Carolyn, in my opinion, I think they should let get her out of the competition and let America know why she is leaving because first of all, this is called AMERICAN Idol, that means, all of our children are watching and trying to be like these people and they see the things that happen on the internet and if Idol producers allow her to continue on the show, what kind of message is that giving to our children, whether it is her or not, it is sending a really bad message to them and they will have alot of angry parents boycotting if they allow her to continue on the show. The point of the show is to find someone that americans can idolize and the winner should not be someone that is going to set a bad example. I mean, look at Kelly Clarkson, she was the first one and I have never seen or heard anything bad about her and thats how all of the contestants should be, so if the producers want to have the fan base that they have now, the best thing for them to do would be to get her off and let people know why they are, which i dont really see happening.
Whether it is true or not. There has been enough doubt created about her that it will cause her problems if she remains on AI.
She should be released from her contract. How she goes is not an issue. She just needs to find another career field.
I think whoever let the pics of her and her friends leak out onto the net isn't a friend at all. I don't think the porn photos are her...but I think they will probably let her go....even if votefortheworst.com tries to keep her around I think the people who are true fans of the show will vote for the better singer and she is not the better singer.....
I honestly don't see how they cannot kick her off. IMO... which doesnt count for much (lol) if they do not kick her off they are opening themselves up for a lawsuit. Frenchie, who by the way had more talent in her little pinky, was kicked off and could come back with a discrimination suit. The girl sat naked on a national monument, which by the way is a federal offense. I personally could care less what she does in her private life, but she took the pictures now she can deal with the fall out. And as a mohter of teenagers you are wrong anonymous for lumping them into one group by saying "teens these days do not take pride in them selves or their morals" I know some really great teenagers that would never degrade themselves or their families in this way. If the boot was good enough for frenchie it 's more than good enough for this girl!
